This is an epic performance by the great Vadim Repin. However, the instrument he is playing cannot handle his world class technical demands. Vadim Repin needs a better violin, one with far more resonance and which has a tone that doesn’t constantly buckle every time he tries to make a subtle bow change. It doesn’t matter if that violin is called a “Guarnerius” when Repin has to work so hard to overcome the dramatic limitations of that wimpy instrument.
